Key Responsibilities- Provide expert dog training instruction and customer service to pet parents, promoting a positive and safe environment for dogs and their owners.
- Act as a subject matter expert for Petco's Positive Dog Training Program, products, services, and in-store promotions.
- Assist in achieving store budgeted sales goals by driving sales and educating store partners on dog training products and services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with store management, partners, and local adoption organizations to promote Petco's Think Adoption First philosophy.
- Stay up-to-date on new products and services, and effectively communicate their features and benefits to customers.
- Set, capture, record, and reward dog training class selling targets with store partners and General Manager.
- Understand and execute national and local policies and procedures related to dog training classes, including operations, safety, and loss prevention measures.
- Maintain area cleanliness and equipment per operational guidelines and policy and procedures.
- Must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Must successfully complete Petco's Dog Training Instructor Program course and associated onboarding within an established timeline.
- Must adhere to DTIP training schedule as set forth by Dog Training Mentor.
- Reports to an established Petco Positive Dog Trainer Mentor for all instructional curriculum.
- Must ensure a safe dog training environment for pet parents, customers, dogs, and Petco partners.
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although merchandise stocking and customer carry-outs may require brief periods outside the store. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and standing for long periods of time.
