Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Quest Diagnostics. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.
Responsibilities:
- Collect blood specimens from patients using a variety of techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture.
- Administer oral solutions to patients as needed.
- Verify patient information and test orders using lab technology systems and approved tools.
- Enter data accurately into computer systems and maintain accurate records.
- Process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport.
- Perform non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, and answering phones.
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data as required.
Requirements:
- Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
- Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
