Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Manchester Memorial Hospital's Young Adult Behavioral Health Unit. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient-centered care, coordinate patient care, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of patients' conditions and care needs, including psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.
- Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management tools and techniques, and educate patients and families regarding pain management.
- Develop and revise individualized treatment plans as indicated by assessment and patient response to treatment, evaluating overall plans daily for effectiveness.
- Follow the five medication rights and reduce the potential for medication errors, demonstrating knowledge of medications, including psychotropic drugs, and their correct administration based on age and clinical condition.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and promotes positive patient outcomes.
- Document the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner, utilizing the appropriate tools.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations, utilizing critical thinking skills and sound judgment in priority setting and delegation.
- Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning, including family involvement as appropriate.
- Practice autonomously, consistent with evidence-based standards, pursuing personal and professional growth and development, and serving as a professional role model and mentor.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, demonstrating clinical expertise, perceptiveness, empathy, and interpersonal warmth, and displaying and promoting sensitivity to the privacy needs of psychiatric patients.
- Effectively use psychological and physical management techniques to manage violent or potentially violent situations, consistent with PMT training.
- Participate in Early Response codes and Dr. Strong codes, and attend PMT refresher trainings.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively set limits with patients and maintain appropriate professional and personal boundaries.
- Collaborate and communicate with all members of the treatment team to effectively meet the treatment needs of patients.
- Provide psychotherapeutic treatment to patients, documenting individual psychotherapeutic interventions and nurse-led educational and psychotherapeutic groups.
