Clarkson University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate to join our team in the Institute for a Sustainable Environment and Civil and Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will support multiple projects related to life cycle assessment (LCA) and technoeconomic analysis (TEA) and will work closely with a large multi-institutional project team.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct LCA and TEA studies to support product development and understanding of environmental and economic trade-offs in complex systems
- Manage research data in a confidential and professional manner
- Lead a small team of graduate and undergraduate students on research projects
- Present findings in peer-reviewed articles and scientific and technical conferences
- Participate in grant writing activities to support professional development and provide additional research opportunities
- Doctoral degree in engineering, sciences, mathematics, or a closely related field
- Record of publication in peer-reviewed scientific literature
- Demonstrative understanding of LCA methodology
- Demonstrative understanding of / interest in coastal or agricultural systems or wastewater treatment
- Capacity to conduct LCA and TEA
- Statistical analysis / computer programming / modeling skills
- Understanding of mass and energy flow analyses through processes related to physical/chemical or biological treatment processes, agricultural processes, and/or energy systems
- Strong data analytic / quantitative skills
- Leadership skills and ability to design and conduct research independently
- Positive and effective oral communication skills with peers and subordinates
