Farm Worker/Livestock Curator Job Summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Farm Worker/Livestock Curator to join our team at the Harvesting Hope farm. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring maximum harvest during the planting season, maintaining clean and well-stocked housing and recreation areas for livestock, and providing excellent customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain adequate clean and well-stocked housing and recreation areas for livestock.
  • Collect eggs daily and perform scheduled wellness checks on livestock, administering basic first aid as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of water and food for livestock.
  • Work with volunteers to direct daily goals and areas of focus.
  • Harvest, weigh, and display produce for client use.
  • Load and offload produce as needed and indicated by supervisors.
  • During off-season and periods of inclement weather, assist with daily operations of the food bank and warehouse, and rotating stock as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as rakes, shovels, and garden carts.
  • Ability to operate small farm tractor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to withstand long periods of outdoor exposure.
  • Ability to understand written or verbal information.
