Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team at DSJ Global. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations through regular audits and inspections.
  • Maintain and update all required EHS documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required, meeting deadlines and ensuring compliance.

Safety Programs:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and policies, ensuring a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses, developing effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and drills, ensuring a prepared and responsive team.

Environmental Programs:

  • Implement and manage waste disposal, recycling, and pollution prevention programs, minimizing environmental impact.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage hazardous materials and ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal, ensuring a safe working environment.

Training and Development:

  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their roles safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all employees are trained in EHS policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Promote a culture of safety through continuous education and awareness campaigns, engaging employees and stakeholders.

Risk Assessment:

  • Perform risk assessments and identify potential hazards, developing effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe work practices, minimizing risks and ensuring compliance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance safety and environmental performance, implementing changes and monitoring results.
  • Participate in EHS audits and inspections by regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes, applying knowledge to improve EHS performance.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations and standards, with experience in implementing and maintaining EHS programs.
  • Experience with EHS management systems and software, ensuring efficient and effective EHS management.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage employees and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS software, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
