Position Overview

About Rittenhouse Village at Portage:

Rittenhouse Village at Portage is a respected member of the Discovery Senior Living family, dedicated to managing senior living communities that prioritize care and lifestyle. We are currently seeking a part-time Housekeeper to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute cleaning tasks as per the established schedule, covering areas such as resident apartments, communal spaces, lounges, and administrative offices.
  • Perform sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming of floors, rugs, and carpets, ensuring cleanliness and safety in all areas.
  • Sanitize and polish lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures, while maintaining adequate supplies in dispensers.
  • Thoroughly scrub tiles, woodwork, window frames, and sills in bath and shower areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and refuse from designated work areas.
  • Manage community laundry services, including collection, cleaning, and redistribution.
  • Ensure the commercial laundry area is kept clean and sanitary.
  • Store cleaning chemicals securely when not in use.
  • Keep cords, carts, and equipment organized to prevent hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Report any maintenance needs or supply shortages to the Lead Housekeeper.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Prior experience in housekeeping is advantageous.
  • Effective communication skills in the primary language of the residents are essential.
  • Ability to read and understand safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • A genuine interest in working with the senior population is required.
  • Must interact courteously and amicably with guests, residents, and staff.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks, with frequent climbing, kneeling, and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move weights up to 50 pounds, with specific vision requirements including close and color vision.
