We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty Member to teach Spanish courses at Lone Star College-University Park. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in the discipline or 18 graduate hours in Spanish, with a proven track record of teaching Spanish courses. They will be expected to utilize a course syllabus, submit required college reports, and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
The successful candidate will also be committed to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning. They will be able to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This is a part-time, adjunct faculty position, with a maximum of five classes per academic year. The work schedule will vary depending on class time, and instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Spanish courses at a variety of times and locations
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
- Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
- Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
Requirements:
- Master's degree in the discipline or 18 graduate hours in Spanish
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning
