Position Overview

The Multicraft Technician will be responsible for diagnosing issues and executing preventive and predictive maintenance on various machinery, prioritizing safety at all times. This role includes supporting production and executing tasks assigned by the assembly department maintenance supervisors and team leaders. The technician will uphold safety, quality, and productivity standards while adhering to plant protocols and the Magna Employee's Charter. Additionally, they will maintain, troubleshoot, and suggest continuous improvements to minimize manufacturing equipment downtime in the assembly sector. Responsibilities also include supporting the installation and modification of equipment to meet quality control standards and realize process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to all plant safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  2. Diagnose and repair various manufacturing equipment, including robotics, PLCs, and electrical systems.
  3. Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  4. Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
  5. Ensure the integrity of safety devices such as light curtains and safety gates.
  6. Assist in the design and installation of new or improved manufacturing equipment and processes.
  7. Modify existing equipment as necessary.
  8. Help determine spare parts needs.
  9. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
  10. Train operators and new team members on equipment and control panels.
  11. Support team members in operating lines and presses.
Candidate Profile

- Strong mathematical and communication skills

- Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics

- Familiarity with testing and troubleshooting tools

- Understanding of rigging and crane operations

- General knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

- Attention to detail is essential

- Basic drafting skills, including blueprint reading

- Knowledge of AUTOCAD is advantageous

- Availability to work extended hours as required

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

Education

- High School Diploma or GED required; a 2-year technical degree or a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a skilled trade within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment is preferred.

Technical Training

- Journeyman Certification is preferred, with a solid understanding of industrial maintenance focusing on electrical, mechanical, robotics, or controls applications.

Experience

- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
