COMPENSATION: $19.07- $20.07 PER HOUR

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Our early childhood education initiatives cater to children aged 0 to 5 and their families, equipping them with the essential skills, confidence, and stable home environment necessary for a seamless transition into kindergarten and beyond. Participants receive comprehensive health services, including screenings, referrals, immunization maintenance, nutritional assessments, and mental health evaluations to identify any developmental delays. Additionally, children benefit from nutritious meals and ongoing access to health and dental care, while parents receive nutrition education integrated into daily activities.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Co-Teacher will create a nurturing environment filled with diverse activities aimed at fostering children's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development in a manner suited to their age and developmental stage, ultimately striving for social competence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Foster a stimulating environment that promotes children's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth appropriate to their developmental stage;
  • Implement the educational curriculum for children enrolled in various sessions. Design individual and group activities to encourage learning and enhance parental involvement in their child's education. Collaborate with the Co-Teacher and Family Advocate to provide resources and information to families;
  • Incorporate various support services into the educational experience, including parental engagement, social services, nutrition, health, and mental health resources;
  • Conduct daily lesson planning, maintain accurate records of children's progress in collaboration with the Family Advocate, and ensure timely submission of monthly reports;
  • Observe, assess, and document child development levels, setting individualized goals for each child;
  • Develop a structured program of activities that supports and empowers parents as the primary educators of their children;
  • Ensure the learning environment reflects the diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the children and the broader community;
  • Maintain a safe and compliant physical environment that meets state and local licensing standards;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of a fingerprint clearance and background check, including criminal history, personal references, and verification of employment and education;
  • Proof of health clearance upon hiring, including:
    • TB clearance within the last six months;
    • Annual influenza vaccination;
    • Immunizations for pertussis and measles;
  • Health screening at the time of employment;
  • Ability to engage with children in a dynamic environment, including:
    • Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs;
    • Frequent kneeling and squatting;
    • Ability to move swiftly;

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • 24 credit units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development;

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience working with children;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with 24 credit units, including 6 units focused on infant/toddler education;
  • Possession of an Associate Teacher Child Development Permit or higher;
  • One year of teaching experience;
  • Familiarity with creative curriculum approaches;
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (both written and verbal);
