Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Float Pool team at Covenant Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support to patients under the supervision of our registered nurses.

Responsibilities
  • Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration rates, blood pressures, weights, heights, and intake-output measurements.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Ambulate patients and assist with transfers, including getting in and out of bed, wheelchairs, and other mobility devices.
  • Provide nutritional support, including distributing meal trays, feeding, and passing out water pitchers.
  • Perform morning and evening care, which may include bed baths, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patients, changing bed linen, cleaning over-bed tables and bedside stands, and other supportive care as needed.
  • Empty drains, canisters, urine bags, bedpans, and emesis basins and record intake and output.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment, including reporting equipment malfunctions and handling linen and supplies properly.
  • Provide general care, including positioning, lifting, or turning patients, assisting with bedpans, urinals, or commodes, preoperative supportive care, and applying or removing abdominal binders or anti-embolism stockings and sequential compression devices.
  • Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens as ordered.
  • Perform tasks such as ROM, assist with ambulatory devices, and perform phlebotomy and EKG procedures as required.
  • Promptly answer patient call lights and respond to patient requests.
  • Report significant changes in patients' conditions to RNs.
  • Help maintain a clean and orderly patient and work environment.
  • Employ established infection control policies, including standard precautions, transmission-based isolation precautions, OSHA standards, safety measures, and proper body mechanics.
  • Document patient records as appropriate.
Qualifications

We require a Tennessee State CNA certification and CPR certification. Hospital experience is preferred, and medical terminology is a plus. You must be able to operate a computer and possess excellent interpersonal skills. You should be able to read with comprehension, write legibly, and perform basic arithmetic computations. You must have a basic understanding of patient care that can be appropriately delegated to nursing assistants.
