Oncology Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Oncology/Infusion RN to join our team at Moab Regional Hospital. As a key member of our Outpatient Nursing Services, you will provide high-quality patient care and specialize in infusion therapy and chemotherapy.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established scope and standards of practice, and with the policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Documents thorough assessments of patients' health status before, during, and after chemotherapy infusion sessions.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as administers simple to complex infusion therapy for chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy medications.
- Documents vital signs, symptoms, and overall response to treatment, and manages side effects, both acute and chronic.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, including discharge needs, and initiates referrals for physical, financial, spiritual, and psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patients and/or families and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Validates and documents patient and family understanding of teaching.
- Implements and monitors patient care plans.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
- May precept student nurses and new hires.
- Maintains professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Requirements:
- Current, unencumbered Utah or compact state RN license.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Certificate, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Knowledge of infection control principles, patient safety techniques, and prevention of adverse reactions to medications/treatments.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to maintain same in situations with rapidly changing circumstances.
- Self-motivated and able to work successfully both independently and as part of a team.
- Great customer service and communication skills, including oral, written, and listening skills.
- Able to receive and manage sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Able to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally; emotionally mature.
- Reliable and timely with work schedule.
- Flexibility and willingness to accept other duties as assigned.
