Healthcare Assistant

As a Healthcare Assistant - Patient Care Specialist with Temple University Health System, you will provide direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse. Your responsibilities will include implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; and elimination needs. You will measure vital signs, perform ECGs, venipuncture, IV placement, capillary blood glucose testing, and Unit Secretary, Patient Transport, and Environment of Care duties.
Education and Experience
A High School Diploma or Equivalent is required. Successful completion of Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, EMT training program or Nursing student with satisfactory completion of Nursing 101 clinical or equivalent clinical rotation is also required. One year of experience in a related patient care role is preferred. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Key Skills
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain accurate records. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential for this position.
