Overview
The Industrial Maintenance Technician role involves executing machine setup, diagnosing issues, conducting repairs, and performing preventive maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the technician will:
1. Provide urgent and unscheduled repairs for production machinery during operations, as well as conduct routine maintenance during scheduled downtimes.
2. Prepare and configure machinery for planned production activities.
3. Utilize mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills to troubleshoot and repair packaging and production equipment.
4. Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to execute necessary maintenance and services.
5. Engage in data cataloging, analysis, and process standardization.
Required Competencies

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not involve managing other employees.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands required for this role include:
- Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Frequent lifting or moving of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work is conducted in a machine shop setting, where conditions such as noise, temperature variations, and repetitive tasks may differ from a standard office environment.
Potential Hazards
Risks may include cuts, bruises, hand injuries, and muscle strains, along with exposure to moving mechanical parts, metalworking fluids, and airborne particles. Proper protective equipment for eyes, ears, and clothing is necessary.
Equipment Responsibilities
The technician will perform tasks where improper maintenance could lead to significant damage to property, tools, or machinery. Responsibilities include setting up and maintaining CNC machines for assigned tasks and executing Total Productive Maintenance as needed.
Material Responsibilities
Duties require close attention to work and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy in part formation. Visual and/or instrument checks must be performed to verify the quality of work.
Safety Responsibilities
Adherence to good housekeeping practices and machine safety protocols is essential, along with compliance with Company Safety Rules.
Qualifications
Experience
This is a full-time position with variable hours based on operational needs.
Travel may be primarily local during business hours, with some out-of-area and overnight travel expected.
A minimum of five years of relevant work experience or equivalent skills and knowledge is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent skills and knowledge.
- Proficiency in the setup and operation of Tsugami Machines with Fanuc Controls.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control.
- Ability to read precision measuring instruments such as comparators, indicators, calipers, and micrometers.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to read and write English at a level necessary for company documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication.
- Capability to assist colleagues as needed.
- Proficiency in applying mathematical operations using fractions, decimals, trigonometry, and geometry as required by machining tasks.
