Job Overview:

Tyler Family Circle of Care is seeking an experienced Optometry Assistant to join our team. As an Optometry Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the delivery of high-quality optometry services.

About the Position:

This is a full-time opportunity that requires a high school diploma or equivalent and some college coursework or certification in optometry assisting. Previous experience in a healthcare or optometry setting is preferred, but not required. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Patient Care:
    • Greet patients warmly and check them in for appointments.
    • Gather patient medical history, including medications, allergies, and vision concerns.
    • Educate patients on eye care, contact lens use, and post-appointment instructions.
    • Perform preliminary eye tests, such as visual acuity, pupil assessment, and intraocular pressure measurement.
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Update and maintain patient records in the electronic health system.
    • Handle insurance verifications and pre-authorizations.
    • Answer phone calls and address patient inquiries promptly.
  • Maintenance and Organization:
    • Maintain and clean diagnostic equipment and exam rooms.
    • Assist in maintaining the organization of optical displays.

Compensation Package:

The salary for this position is approximately $43,500 per year, with additional benefits including 10 paid holidays, 15 days paid time off, and a 403(b) savings plan with 5% company match.
