About the Role

Sigray, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Concord, CA. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art X-ray microscopes and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complete X-ray microanlytical products, including ultrahigh resolution X-ray microscopes and high-efficiency X-ray absorption spectroscopy systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets customer requirements and company standards.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including CAD models, technical specifications, and test procedures.
  • Conduct design simulations, analysis, and testing to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Work with minimal supervision and oversight to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably in the scientific instrumentation industry.
  • Proficient in Solidworks and other CAD software, with experience in design simulation, analysis, and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of engineering design practices and principles, including interference checks, fits, tolerance stack-up, and GD&T.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with ability to think critically and develop creative solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing ultrahigh precision scientific equipment, such as electron microscopes, helium ion microscopes, and/or X-ray systems.
  • Knowledge of X-ray equipment, X-ray optics, X-ray sources, and electron sources, or ultrahigh vacuum systems.
  • Experience with motion control systems, automation, and robotics.
  • Programming skills in C++, C#, or Python.
