POSITION OVERVIEW


The CNC Machinist is responsible for the setup and operation of computer numerical controlled (CNC) vertical machining centers, CNC lathes, and 4-axis controllers. This role focuses on producing high-precision metallic and non-metallic components by executing a variety of tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:


Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines as outlined in the company’s Employee Handbook and safety training documents.


Interpreting blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to ascertain dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences.


Creating, modifying, or adjusting CNC programs using manual input or Computer Aided Machining (CAM) software.

Measuring and marking materials to ensure accuracy in machining processes.


Selecting and securing appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on various machining equipment.

Setting machine controls to manage machining parameters such as speed, feed rates, and coolant flow.


Monitoring machine operations to identify and rectify malfunctions or deviations from specifications.


Conducting quality checks on finished products using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.


Performing trial runs to verify the accuracy of machine settings and programmed data.


Collaborating with engineers and internal stakeholders to address machining or assembly challenges.


Designing and implementing fixtures and tools to enhance machining efficiency and safety.


Meeting overtime requirements based on production demands and schedules.


Embracing opportunities for cross-training and skill development across various departments.


Complying with ISO and quality standards, as well as company policies and procedures.


Participating in 5S initiatives to promote workplace organization and efficiency.


Upholding the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies.


QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: An Associate's degree in Machine Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience in a job shop environment.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents and effectively communicating with team members.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Strong understanding of mathematical concepts applicable to machining.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and operating machinery.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to mechanical parts and potentially hazardous conditions; adherence to safety protocols is essential.


TOOLS REQUIRED

Essential tools include a machinist scale, calipers, micrometers, and various hand tools necessary for precision machining.


COMPANY SUPPLIED EQUIPMENT

Safety glasses and essential machining tools will be provided by the company.
