Role Summary:
The Radiation Therapy Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care through the administration of radiation treatments. This position requires a commitment to safety and excellence in patient management.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts treatment simulations based on physician directives.
- Executes dosimetry calculations under the guidance of a physicist or dosimetrist, utilizing both manual and computerized methods.
- Delivers the prescribed radiation therapy accurately and efficiently.
- Assists in Brachytherapy procedures as needed.
- Prepares treatment machines and simulators, ensuring all safety protocols are followed; reports any operational anomalies to the physicist.
- Ensures proper alignment by checking laser positioning.
- Verifies radiation doses through precise measurements and communicates any inconsistencies to the physicist.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Encourages personal and professional development by fulfilling continuing education requirements and supporting departmental objectives.
- Demonstrates a commitment to compassionate care by providing personalized experiences for patients and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
- Licensure/Certification: Certified Radiation Therapist by the American Registry of Radiation Therapy Technologists (ARRT-T) and licensed by the Texas Department of Health (CMRT).
Compensation: Starting salary of $90,000
