Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Staff Engineer to join our team. As a Geotechnical Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for performing site-specific seismic hazard and ground-response analysis, numerical modeling using finite-element methods, and designing earth-retaining structures, slope stabilization, remedial grading, landslide mitigation, and foundations. You will also develop geotechnical recommendations, plans, and specifications for the construction of private and public projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform site-specific seismic hazard and ground-response analysis.
  • Perform numerical modeling using finite-element methods as implemented in PLAXIS.
  • Design earth-retaining structures, slope stabilization, remedial grading, landslide mitigation, and foundations.
  • Develop geotechnical recommendations, plans, and specifications for the construction of private and public projects.
  • Support field activities including exploratory logging, observation of deep foundation construction, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnically relevant construction.
  • Complete field, analytical, and project administrative tasks with direction and support from peers and leadership.
  • Learn increasingly more complex, non-routine tasks with review and oversight from senior staff.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of professional or relevant internship/field experience.
  • E.I.T.
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals and soil mechanics.
  • A team player who enjoys problem-solving and fast-paced environments.
  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit and a positive attitude.
  • Desire to continually learn and grow.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Driven to go above and beyond in client service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree - Required; M.S. degree or Ph.D. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering - Preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Products. Numerical modeling, seismic hazard analysis, and GIS experience are a plus.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and diverse environment.
  • Ability to work and succeed as a team also while being resourceful when working alone in the field.
