Job Title: Mechanical Operations Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Mechanical Operations Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our ground systems, test facilities, and launch vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain ground systems for launch vehicle operations, ensuring seamless integration with our space vehicles.
  • Oversee the commissioning of new or modified systems at the Blue Origin Orbital Launch Site, guaranteeing compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and execute commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational procedures for ground systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Implement and execute corrective and preventative maintenance programs for ground systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation.
  • Collaborate with internal design teams to provide inputs for system improvements, ensuring alignment with our company's vision and goals.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams on costs, schedule, and technical design requirements, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.
Requirements:
  • Four-year degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering (or similar discipline) and three years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience operating aerospace cryogenic and pneumatic systems during testing or launch activities.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical and/or piping systems during testing or launch activities.
  • Knowledge of fluid components typical in tubing and piping systems (valves, regulators, pumps, etc.) and installation and fabrication methods of piping systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and installation drawings and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start and manage tasks along with team collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Engineering degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience writing and executing test plans and procedures for qualification, acceptance, and operations of hazardous and/or safety-critical components and systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and in-field oversight of construction, testing, and/or operations of piping systems.
  • Understanding of design lifecycle documentation and configuration control.
