Nurse House Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring that patient care is delivered in a safe and efficient manner. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing staff to ensure that patient care is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve patient care and safety.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that patient needs are met and that care is delivered in a seamless manner.
- Provide guidance and support to nursing staff to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to improve patient care.
Requirements:
- Current RN license in the state of practice or compact license.
- BSN or completion of BSN within 4 years of hire.
- Minimum 3 years current RN clinical experience, including management of critical and complex patients.
- Leadership experience.
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MSN.
- PALS certification.
- National certification in area of practice.
Work Environment:
This position requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions. Be available to work overtime, if needed. Be willing to accept supervision and work well with others. Demonstrate a willingness to learn. Be able to communicate clearly. Comply with all applicable hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and facility safety in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Demonstrate knowledge of information management as appropriate.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
