Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

A rewarding opportunity exists for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner within a skilled nursing facility located in the Chicago west suburbs. This role offers flexibility with part-time or full-time options, requiring the candidate to work 3-4 days a week. Ideal applicants should possess a minimum of one year of Nurse Practitioner experience, with a background in geriatric care preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough examinations, diagnoses, and provides treatment for both newly admitted and ongoing patients.
- Engages in collaborative communication with the Primary Physician and nursing staff at the facility.
- Performs comprehensive physical assessments pertinent to psychiatric care.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates necessary diagnostic tests as appropriate.
- Prescribes both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options.
- Works closely with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families to ensure effective care.
- Documents physical findings in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) within established timeframes.
- Manages scheduling, payroll, and billing processes efficiently.
- Maintains open lines of communication with colleagues and facility staff regarding operational matters.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Licensure/Certification: Nurse Practitioner certification, Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license, Controlled Substance (CS) registration, and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
- Experience: Minimum of one year in a relevant role.
- Specialization: Experience in psychiatric care is required.
