We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing complex analyses, utilizing laboratory techniques, principles, and equipment to deliver high-quality laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using various analyzers and/or manual methods.
- Organize workload and set priorities, utilizing all available work time to assist others and perform additional tasks.
- Meet turnaround time expectations as defined by management.
- Recognize, investigate, and help resolve test discrepancies, taking appropriate action to investigate and address and notifying management and the medical director for follow-up.
- Perform instrument calibrations, validations, quality control testing, maintenance, and function checks.
- Bachelor's degree.
- One year of work or training experience in a hospital laboratory preferred.
- Must meet certification eligibility upon entry into this role and have one of the following required certifications within 18 months: Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or categorical certification by Board of Certification (ASCP), Certified as a Medical Technologist by American Medical Technologists (AMT), or Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA).
- Preferred - Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or categorical certification by Board of Certification (ASCP).
- Preferred - Certified as a Medical Technologist by American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Preferred - Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA).
