About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Support Supervisor to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our laboratory services team, you will be responsible for supervising assignments within the laboratory and acting as a resource to Laboratory Support Technicians.

Job Responsibilities
  • Schedule, plan, delegate, and supervise assignments, providing feedback during performance review process.
  • E nsure daily workflow is completed following established procedures.
  • Assist leadership on projects of medium complexity and size.
  • Mentor new staff members.
  • Perform loading and unloading of lab specimens from automated and non-automated instrumentation, as well as perform various waived testing.
  • Assist customers with inquiries and provide support as needed.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff in the daily operation of the lab by collecting, labeling, processing, and preserving blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Enter, access, and execute lab orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system.
  • Support pre-analytical laboratory staff with competency assessments.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory supplies and work area.
  • Update statistical records, label tubes, and schedule processing runs.
  • May perform moderate complexity testing.
  • May perform phlebotomy and/or waived testing.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties including admission activities, insurance verification, order entry processing, and medical record processing.
Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • Two years' experience as a Lab Support Technician.
Physical Requirements

Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Rare climbing.

Salary and Benefits
