Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Kitchen Manager to join our team. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve meals in accordance with funding guidelines and nutritional standards.
  • Implement and maintain food safety best practices and ensure all kitchen staff adhere to these standards.
  • Manage kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory control, and procurement of supplies.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure high-quality service and efficient operations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance and measure quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of our clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including CACFP and Department of Public Health guidelines.
  • Participate in program team meetings and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in food preparation and management.
  • Training in Culinary Arts or related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude when working with clients.
  • Valid California Driver's license and clean MVR record.
  • Passing a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
Working Conditions

The Kitchen Manager will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with frequent exposure to heat, noise, and physical demands. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods is required. The Kitchen Manager may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
