Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Patients for Procedures

Ensure patients are properly prepared for MRI procedures, providing clear instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.

Apply Magnetic Resonance Safety Principles

Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients, staff, and others.

Operate MRI Equipment

Select and operate magnetic resonance imaging systems, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.

Position Patients and Equipment

Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.

Immobilize Patients

Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination.

Select Pulsing Sequences

Select appropriate pulsing sequences respecting established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.

Administer Contrast Media

In agreement with state statute and established protocol, administer alimentary and intravenous contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

Verify Informed Consent

Verify informed consent for and assist a licensed practitioner with interventional procedures.

Practice Aseptic Techniques

Practice aseptic techniques when necessary.

Evaluate Images and Data

Evaluate images and data for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and provide a hard copy record of procedures assuring proper identification is evident.

Requirements
  • Education

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Licenses and Certifications

Preferred certifications include L-Magnetic Resonance MRT, C-BLS, L-Radiography RRT, and C-ARRT - RT MR ARRT.
