We have an exciting opportunity for a Substation Designer - Physical in Winslow, ME. In this role, you will prepare clear, complete, and accurate substation physical drawings from rough or detailed sketches, notes, or pre-made drafting blocks for engineering.
Key Responsibilities:- Follow general and specific industry guidelines as described in CAD procedure manuals
- Read, learn, and apply general and client-specific CAD Standards to all drawings
- Utilize knowledge of Autodesk and other drafting packages and software to complete drawings
- Draft finished designs from engineer's sketches or from other engineering documentation
- Visually compare the design of component, or other equipment with datasheet of component for accurate drafting of component
- Prepare drawing sets for quality assurance review following company procedures
- Review questions or concerns with engineer or project manager and redline drawing set accordingly
- A 2-year degree in Computer Aided Drafting/Design or equivalent degree is preferred
- 0-5 years CAD substation physical design experience
- Efficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft suite (Access, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Knowledge of AutoLisp preferred
- Must be attentive to detail with drawings and specifications for a high level of accuracy
- Comfortable communicating with technical people
- Eagerness to learn new technology and implement improvements
- Customer service attitude and enjoys helping people
- Ability to work with little supervision and prioritize work responsibilities
This role requires the ability to perform the minimum requirements and meet deadlines as required. The working conditions are a hybrid mix of standard office environment and work-from-home, with frequent use of computer, facsimiles, copy machines, and other office equipment. The ability to travel for client/project needs is strongly preferred.
