Position Overview:

ROLE: Food Service Cook

LOCATION: Colville Tribes Culinary Services

Key Responsibilities: This position encompasses a variety of essential functions, including meal preparation, sanitation, and operational support within the culinary department. Responsibilities entail preparing meals, maintaining cleanliness, and organizing the kitchen area effectively.

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 12-18 months of experience in food service cooking.
  • Experience in institutional, military, or large-scale commercial kitchens is advantageous.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license, Food Handler's Card, First Aid & CPR certification, and pass a TB test within the required timeframe.
  • Maintain all necessary licenses and certifications throughout employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in food preparation and cooking techniques for large volumes.
  • Ability to interpret recipes, menus, and product labels.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with operational procedures in a treatment facility.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety protocols for kitchen equipment.
  • Understanding of food storage, inventory management, and portion control.
  • Awareness of federal, state, and Tribal regulations pertaining to food service.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate cooking activities and assist residents in meal preparation.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy items, standing for extended periods, and adapting to varying shifts.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to navigate in challenging weather conditions if necessary.
