Job Title: Registered Nurse - Quality Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Quality Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and conducting quality/risk management functions on a daily basis, including scheduling, variance report follow-up, setting up interviews, RCA investigation sessions, complaint and grievance, data collection, document submission, and information requests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate safety events and reported safety concerns.
  • Track deadlines and ensure that required documentation is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with patients, staff, and leaders in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Assure that programs, initiatives, processes, and policies are in compliance with state, federal, and other accrediting bodies/regulatory agencies.
  • Perform research when requested.
  • Appropriately handle requests and queries for information.
  • Manage data collection, compile data, and submit accurate data in a timely manner as required by regulatory agencies or as part of any initiative. Create graphs, tables, and other data displays.
  • Assist in the implementation of departmental quality and risk initiatives.
  • Assist in the implementation of departmental quality initiatives and analysis of outcomes data. Analyze, share, and assist with interpretation of outcomes data with appropriate staff, medical staff, and customers.
  • Assure appropriate level of understanding, awareness, and compliance with all applicable Joint Commission, CMS, state, and local agency laws, internal/external regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Work in multiple software systems as assigned.
  • Serve as chapter leader for designated Joint Commission chapters as assigned by Director of Quality and Risk to include ensuring that all applicable elements of performance are addressed and monitored.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent computer skills, including the use of Windows, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to lead groups in quality/performance improvement initiatives and work with directors/managers to develop quality initiatives.
  • Basic analytical knowledge and skill needed to help directors/managers establish ways to measure performance and progress towards desired improvement goals.
  • Must be well organized and able to set priorities.
  • Must be detail oriented as well as possess excellent communication skills. Discretion and integrity are recognized requirements.
Education:
  • Minimum associate degree of nursing
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
Experience:
  • Requires 3-5 years clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting. Prefer at least 1 year of quality experience.
Certification/License:
  • Iowa RN license
