Position Overview

Article Student Living is seeking a Senior Vice President of Investment Strategies to lead our innovative and growing team. This pivotal role is essential for directing the identification, evaluation, structuring, documentation, execution, and finalization of investment opportunities in student housing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and manage student housing investment prospects, focusing primarily on new developments and secondarily on acquisitions.
  • Oversee and conduct comprehensive underwriting and assessment of investment opportunities, supported by a dedicated team of professionals.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of investment deals, including due diligence, securing entitlements, engaging consultants, advancing architectural plans, and obtaining necessary permits.
  • Implement business plans for developments and acquisitions after closing.
  • Negotiate essential legal documents in collaboration with internal legal teams and external counsel.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and memos for executive review and investment committee approvals.
  • Support the Investment Management team in capital raising efforts for equity and debt.
  • Collaborate with various departments to prepare financial models and assess project feasibility.
  • Establish Article Student Living as a leading developer and investor in the sector.
  • Develop and maintain a robust network to facilitate opportunity sourcing.
  • Foster long-term relationships with partners, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of investment professionals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in student housing or multi-family development, with a proven track record of success.
  • Established network within the student housing and real estate sectors.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in real estate, business, finance, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field; MBA or MRED preferred.
