Job Overview

Hensel Phelps is a leading construction company seeking a skilled Field Engineer to join our team. This role involves working directly with the Superintendent and exercising judgment in implementing policies and procedures, handling various field matters, and overseeing trade partners.

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

The Field Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Conducting project layout surveys in accordance with design and contract documents;
  • Ensuring accuracy and adequacy of construction, including embedded items, before concrete placement;
  • Performing production trend analysis for quantities of work in place and reporting for weekly and monthly schedule and cost control reports;
  • Assisting with quality control, site safety initiatives, and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the project superintendent;
  • Coordinating material deliveries by checking requirements in advance and comparing with delivery status;
  • Inspecting materials delivered to the job for quantity, quality, and condition, and reporting on missing and/or damaged items;
  • Assisting foremen and trade partners with plan and specification interpretation;
  • Oversight of trade partners, as assigned, and direction of workforces (e.g., labor crew) to gain supervisory experience;
  • Participating in jobsite safety meetings, weekly safety audits, etc.;
  • Collaborating with the VDC team on VDC scope of work, execution plan, and deliverables related to field operations.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, or Construction Management;
  • A valid driver's license;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel-based templates), Prolog, Primavera, and AutoDesk Suite.
