Job Summary

The Radiation Therapist delivers high energy radiation to cancer patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist. This role requires a strong understanding of radiation therapy principles and the ability to work closely with patients and medical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high energy radiation to cancer patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist
  • Accurately record daily and accumulated doses in patient charts
  • Conduct daily CT/KV/MV films of treatment portals
  • Recognize radiation side effects and notify the nurse and/or MD
  • Schedule daily treatment to accommodate patients' chemotherapy schedules and other appointments
  • Perform daily machine warm-up and check-out of TrueBeam, Triology, CT simulator Superficial, and MPC
  • Keep treatment area neat and clean at all times
  • Restock daily linen and order pertinent supplies
  • Provide psychological and emotional support to patients
  • Perform simulation backup and daily chart checks
Requirements
  • Associate Degree or 2 years of college coursework
  • No prior work experience required
  • Registered Radiation Therapist certification
  • Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification
  • Ability to work closely with others and function as a team
  • Computer experience necessary
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Registry Eligible Radiation Therapist acceptable, must receive registry within one year of hire
