Clinical Resource Nurse Job Description

Covenant Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Resource Nurse to join our team. As a Clinical Resource Nurse, you will play a critical role in the management of care, environment of care, and day-to-day operations of the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and promote the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
  • Assist the Clinical Nurse Manager with performance improvement plans and progressive discipline as needed, mentoring staff for self-improvement.
  • Perform clinically 40% of the time taking a full assignment or charge role.
  • Develop an overall view of patients, families, and caregivers, and establish strong partnerships with them to deliver optimal care.
  • Accountable for patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Use of an electronic medical record.
  • Attend unit-level meetings and nursing councils/committees to assess standard of practice and disseminate professional practice information.
  • Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team, identify and implement patient care initiatives that support the highest quality of care delivered.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate practice improvements using quality tools for patients on his/her unit.
  • Understand and educate the nursing team to the organization's strategic plan, balanced scorecard, and participate in the development of the unit-based department alignment board.
  • Participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes for a defined cohort of patients.
  • Assure that there is continuous assessment/improvement of services provided through department auditing and as an active member of the Nurse Practice Council, Wound Committee, Fall Prevention Committee, and other Quality Improvement organizational activities.
  • Assist in meeting requirements of outside regulatory agencies including DNV, CMS, and other agencies as appropriate to the service area.
  • Use established nursing standards/policies when designing patient care following the New Hampshire Board of Nursing and ANA guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of hospital policies and procedures and disseminate updated and new policies to staff.
  • Incorporate evidenced-based practice into clinical care delivered by self and others.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Leadership, and Education, to improve the competency of all staff members and the delivery of patient care services.
  • Incorporate performance improvement data, current evidence-based practices, and adult learning theory into nursing professional development practice.
  • Actively participate in department huddles and the organization's daily safety huddle.
  • Act as a unit champion for new products and services implemented both unit-based and hospital-wide.
  • Be visible, accessible, and committed to communicating effectively with staff.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and be responsible to organize, manage, and evaluate the function of a team.
  • Act as the tele-neurology designee as needed.
  • Maintain nursing licensure and certifications required for the department - must remain current at all times.
  • Flexible schedule to ensure adequate communication and training to all staff.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurses working in specialty areas must meet requirements for those specialties as determined by that specific discipline.
Education and Experience:
  • Current, valid New Hampshire Registered Nurse License required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful completion from an approved School of Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 Years clinical nursing experience required.
  • BSN degree preferred.
  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation.
  • Membership in a professional organization preferred.
  • For OB/GYN, Specialty Certification required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.

Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
