Diagnostic Ultrasound Sonographer Job Description

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Ultrasound Sonographer to join our team in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Ultrasound Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures in a hospital and/or clinical setting, including OB/GYN, abdominal, and vascular superficial structures. You will also be required to perform clerical duties as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Performing diagnostic procedures using knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the age of the patient served, including routine, emergent, portable, and surgical examinations in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Communicating with radiologists to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Assisting patients and transporting them as needed.
  • Reviewing exams, filing work, restocking supplies, and performing quality assurance functions.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasonographer program or 2 years of previous ultrasound experience.
  • High school diploma or general education development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration:
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certificate - Ob-GYN required at hire from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Sonography Technologist License (Oregon) required for positions assigned in Oregon.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 1 month of hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • Daily use of diagnostic equipment, imaging, and healthcare computer systems.
  • Demonstrates customer-focused service skills.
  • Ability to use and apply excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience performing ultrasound exams, preferably within the last 3 years.
  • Vascular ultrasonographer experience preferred.
  • Organizational skills, time management, prioritization, planning, attention to detail, problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, technical skills, initiative, communication, interpersonal skills, customer relations, and organizational relations.
