The Healthcare Patient Advocate will cultivate constructive and professional connections with patients, families, healthcare providers, hospital personnel, and community stakeholders.

This role is essential in facilitating access to healthcare and effectively utilizing hospital and community resources. Responsibilities include conducting preliminary patient assessments and assisting with necessary interventions.

Furthermore, the position involves identifying and supplying resources from both the healthcare facility and the community to assist patients and their families in navigating available services.

This position focuses on supporting and advocating for African American pregnant and postpartum women with infants up to 12 months old in the Washington, DC area, as part of a research initiative funded by PCORI (Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute).

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in social services or a healthcare environment providing direct support to clients and their families (Required)
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • Experience engaging with African American patient demographics.
  • Cultural awareness and the capacity to deliver evidence-based care.
  • A collaborative team member with knowledge of resources available in Washington, DC.
