Maintenance Technician

Liberty Resources, a dynamic and growing Syracuse non-profit, seeks an experienced Facilities Maintenance Expert to join our team.

This role involves providing top-notch facilities maintenance services for our properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general upkeep and repair of buildings and grounds, as well as experience with mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the timely upkeep of residential and non-residential properties, including painting, cleaning, repairs/construction, and remodeling.
  • Perform and document work order requests, which may involve troubleshooting minor plumbing, mechanical, and electrical equipment issues.
  • Maintain security throughout Agency properties, ensuring the health and safety of residents, tenants, coworkers, vendors, and the public.
  • Assist with snow removal in winter months to ensure safe entry into buildings and grounds.
  • Respond to after-hours and weekend emergencies on a rotating on-call schedule to handle all emergency maintenance requests.
  • Consistently demonstrate reliable attendance and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct various tasks such as exterior and interior cleaning, debris removal, lawn maintenance, carpet cleaning, painting, sheetrock installation, woodworking, window repair, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
  • Operate snow removal equipment, including shovels, snow blowers, and possibly snow plows.
  • Keep accurate records of personal time and agency resources spent on materials and repairs, adhering to agency procedures for purchasing supplies and materials.
  • Communicate daily with the maintenance supervisor regarding task status and projects.

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate degree in a related field and at least two years' experience are preferred.
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid NYS driver's license and reliable access to transportation, potentially using their personal vehicle for regional service area travel.
  • Regularly perform duties involving standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, sitting, climbing stairs, and lifting objects up to 80lbs, with the ability to set up, climb, and work from an extension ladder.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to utilize computer systems for recording work time and processing orders within agency systems are necessary.
  • An understanding of OSHA codes, safety practices, and knowledge of general electrical and mechanical systems are also essential.

Compensation: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
