Probation Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Probation Officer to join our team in the Juvenile Services department. As a Probation Officer, you will be responsible for performing professional-level probation work in the administration, coordination, and supervision of Parish-wide juvenile probation services.

• Coordinate and supervise probation services and guide and direct subordinate staff.
• Recommend policies and procedures to the Director or Assistant Director.
• Assist in the recruitment, orientation, and training of staff.
• Interpret legislation, Juvenile Code, and legal procedures to probation staff.
• Supervise various related programs to facilitate the goals of the division.

• Current employment and permanent civil service status in the class of Juvenile Probation Officer III, plus at least three (3) years of paid work experience at that level.
• Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, plus at least three (3) years paid work experience at the supervisory level performing Probation Officer work in the criminal justice field.
