POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for the thorough inspection, upkeep, and repair of buses powered by gasoline, diesel, electricity, or alternative fuels like propane. The technician will execute preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
SUPERVISION: Close supervision is provided, with specific duties assigned according to established procedures. Work is regularly reviewed, and formal training may be included. Most tasks are verified and approved by a Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conducts essential preventive maintenance on buses adhering to required standards.
• Performs inspections and necessary repairs to ensure vehicles meet compliance regulations.
• Prepares buses for Department of Transportation inspections.
• Maintains and repairs all electrical systems, including lights, safety signals, and starting/charging systems.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots vehicles requiring repairs, including electrical issues.
• Installs replacement components for vehicle repairs.
• Replaces external engine parts as needed.
• Conducts brake inspections on buses.
• Adheres to all safety protocols while performing tasks.
• Undertakes additional duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday through Friday, Day shift.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• A minimum of one to two years of related experience is preferred. A valid NYS class D driver's license is required; a CDL B license is preferred.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient understanding of modern automotive maintenance techniques and procedures, including the safe use of automotive repair tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform skilled automotive repairs using specialized tools and instruments.
- Capacity to exercise independent judgment and initiative for ongoing training in the latest industry practices.
- Strong diagnostic skills to identify issues accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions from supervisors.
- Competence in documenting work and maintaining automotive certifications.
- Basic computer skills for diagnostics and testing.
- Acknowledgment of when additional assistance is necessary.
SALARY:
$23.00 per hour.
