The Leidos National Security Sector has an opening for a Signal Processing Engineer supporting the Space Based Infrared Systems (SBIRS) program office. The SLMS contract provides system sustainment, engineering, and logistics support for SBIRS. As a member of the engineering team, this Signal Processing Engineer will provide communication circuit support for the SBIRS communications architecture, performing circuit audits, troubleshooting circuit performance issues, and collaborating with stakeholders to implement solutions. They will work with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) personnel and service portals to support existing and new communication circuits.
Responsibilities:
- This role involves collecting and analyzing circuit data for failure trend analysis and hardware usage. The Signal Processing Engineer will collaborate with the circuit support team and data owners to identify upcoming circuit need issues and develop mitigation plans.
- They will work with DISA personnel, Space Command's Digital Information Network (SDIN) Network Management Cell (NMC) to establish new communications circuits.
- This position involves developing and submitting new circuit orders, In-effect Reports (IER), Delayed Service Reports (DSR) for all new communications circuits. They will use DISA's StoreFront ordering portal to submit circuit orders and develop communications reports using DISA's Telecommunication Certification Office Support System (TCOSS) portal.
- They will also develop and submit Approval-to-Connect (ATC) requests using DISA's System Network Approval Portal (SNAP) and serve as a liaison between DISA and data owners to resolve communication circuit issues.
- This Signal Processing Engineer will be the SBIRS focal point between DISA and data owners supporting the Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) Elimination efforts.
Requirements:
- This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of four years of relevant experience or a Master's degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- The Signal Processing Engineer should have a working knowledge of serial communications circuits, including Optical Transport Networks (OTN), Multi Service Provisioning Platform, Juniper routers, and circuit-to-packet network (CTP) appliances and type 1 HAIPE devices.
- They should have clear and professional written and verbal communication skills with peers, senior company personnel, and military personnel/leadership. Technical writing and reporting skills are also required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and cyber artifacts needed for circuit activation.
- Familiarity with data encryption, fiber optics, and legacy data processing systems.
- Familiarity with the government form 1067 system modification process.
Clearance:
- US Citizen; Currently possess an active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
