Position Overview: Staff Pharmacist
The primary function of this position is to assist customers with their healthcare requirements, enhance health outcomes through prescription management, deliver clinical services, provide therapeutic guidance, ensure exceptional customer service, and supervise pharmacy personnel. The capacity to make frequent independent decisions is essential in this role. The incumbent must execute all responsibilities safely, adhering to Rite Aid policies as well as state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include:
- Verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of all filled prescriptions through Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance in accordance with state and federal Pharmacy Board regulations.
- Cultivating a profitable business and boosting prescription volume by implementing recommended clinical initiatives such as immunizations and, when applicable, MTM and DCS programs.
- Delivering outstanding customer service by addressing medical inquiries and providing healthcare advice.
- Overseeing Pharmacy Technicians and support staff during shifts.
- Assisting the Pharmacy Manager in training, mentoring, and supervising Pharmacy associates.
- Managing the entire pharmacy's operations in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
- Upholding the security standards of the Pharmacy department.
- Complying with all federal and state laws and regulations.
- Addressing and resolving customer concerns, complaints, and inquiries to foster customer loyalty.
- Collaborating with healthcare providers and utilizing references to gather customer and prescription information and resolve any issues that arise.
- Contributing to the organization and cleanliness of the Pharmacy department.
- Prioritizing tasks within the Pharmacy Department to ensure timely completion, including but not limited to cycle counts, inventory management, and customer will-calls.
Qualifications
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role includes overseeing Pharmacy Technicians and Cashiers, involving supervisory duties in line with Rite Aid policies and relevant laws. Responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and addressing concerns with associates, as well as evaluating their performance and managing complaints.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To thrive in this position, candidates must effectively execute each essential duty. The prerequisites listed below reflect the knowledge, skills, and proficiencies required: Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PHARM.D.), or equivalent in Pharmacy, along with Immunization Certification from an accredited organization (e.g., APhA).
