Job Summary

At Sonic Automotive, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Service Technician to join our team. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work in accordance with dealer and factory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive repair orders from dispatchers and take them to the designated work area.
  • Perform vehicle repairs and maintenance work with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain required parts.
  • Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Notify service advisors immediately if additional work is not needed or required.
  • Document work performed.
  • Road-test vehicles when necessary or refer to the test technician.
  • Supervise the work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Attend factory-sponsored training classes.
  • Stay up-to-date with factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure customer vehicles are kept clean.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area and account for all dealership-owned tools.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and report any accidents to a manager or supervisor.
Requirements
  • High CSI is a must.
  • ASE or manufacturing training.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Good judgment.
  • Authorized to work in the USA.
  • Ability to perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing, including background checks, MVR, drug test, and valid driver's license.
