Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the cleanliness of pour barrels, removing any debris and mix accumulation from the interior.
  • Maintain the integrity of barrel jackets, ensuring the exterior is free from loose mix residue.
  • Regularly clean pour hooks to prevent mix build-up that could contaminate molds.
  • Replace pour barrels within jackets as necessary to ensure optimal operation.
  • Fabricate screens for pour barrels to enhance efficiency.
  • Report any maintenance issues regarding barrels to the Supervisor or Casting Manager promptly.
  • Keep the PA room, pigment area, and south dock areas tidy, addressing spills, debris, and unnecessary items.
  • Ensure proper safety labeling for the Casting area, including pigment barrels, buckets, and pitchers in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of 55-gallon mix scrap weights.
  • Assist the ESH Manager with the waste management processes within the Casting department.
  • Support the Process Engineer with sieve analysis and other material testing as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to meet operational needs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Ability to understand and follow positional work instructions effectively.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Willingness to obtain forklift certification.
  • Able to work overtime, including weekends.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 10 hours.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery, including air hammers.
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Completion of the Durcon Waste Management Handling Training Program is required within 30 days of assignment.
Education and Experience:
  • Less than a high school education is acceptable.
  • A minimum of 3 months of relevant work experience is required.
