About the Role

Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Lead Technologist to join our Interventional Radiology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing vascular interventional imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients, as well as technical expertise and direction to Vascular Technologists as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate work activities of assigned personnel
  • Schedule work assignments and prepare master schedule
  • Perform payroll time sheet for employees
  • Train, counsel, discipline, and evaluate performance of employees
  • Assist with interviewing applicants and recommend selection
  • Maintain procedure manual and communicate changes to staff
  • Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law
  • Assist with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.)
  • Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements
  • Ensure and maintain quality control in regards to patient care and equipment usage
  • Provide technical direction with complex cases and problem solving
  • Schedule routine preventative maintenance on equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards
  • Instruct other area personnel in Radiation Protection, as needed, and ensure their safety
  • Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional and surgical procedures as per protocol
  • Position patients to obtain radiographic exposure, adjust exposure factors and process images
  • Check and prepare patients prior to Vascular-Interventional study
  • Screen patients for ability to undergo procedure by understanding baseline lab requirements
  • Understand primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects
  • Set-up or operate injector to administer contrast agents
  • May manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector utilized
  • Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation
  • Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam
  • Use professional judgment to adapt imaging and therapeutic procedures to improve diagnostic quality and therapeutic outcome
  • Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information
  • Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS
  • When applicable, knowledgeable in after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork
  • Report, immediately, any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator
  • Knowledgeable in billing via RIS
  • Observe potential equipment dysfunctions and report problems to appropriate individuals calling for service as required
  • Maintain available up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Utilize a team approach to process improvement
  • Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology students
  • Continually strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions
  • Provide after-hours, standby, call-in service as needed
  • May be assigned to one specific site, but is required to cover other modalities, sites, and/or locations as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
  • Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing
  • Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography: R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology: R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
