Boiler Operator Trainee

Responsibilities:
  • Operate high-pressure wood-fired boilers efficiently and safely, utilizing knowledge of steam, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Load and change kiln charges, and operate controls to optimize boiler performance.
  • Understand and comply with environmental regulations related to boiler operations and maintenance.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance to boilers and related equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments to ensure seamless operations and achieve departmental goals.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to boiler operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate moisture content in kiln charges to maximize quality.
  • Collaborate with Planer personnel to ensure consistent moisture content.
  • Perform shoveling and clearing of boiler ash and debris.
  • Be flexible and willing to work varied shifts, including weekends and off-shifts, with potential for overtime.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred: Understanding of environmental compliance related to boiler and kiln operation.
  • Experience in operating heavy equipment, such as forklifts and loaders.
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in developing technical skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn software applications.
  • Ability to analyze operational data to improve boiler performance.
