We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Meat Department Manager to join our team at Fiesta Mart LLC. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for assisting the Meat Manager in training, observing, and enforcing all company policies and procedures. In the absence of the department manager, you will assume overall operation of the department, including ordering, training, and scheduling. You will be responsible for ensuring that all company standards are met and that the department runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- In the absence of the Meat Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operation of the meat department, including ordering, training, and scheduling.
- You will be responsible for the performance and supervision of all meat employees, working closely with the Meat Manager to ensure that all employees are meeting company standards.
- You will be responsible for preparing the department for business according to company standards, including merchandising, pricing, and inventory control.
- You will be responsible for offering suggestions to customers to provide alternatives, assisting customers with special requests, and answering questions about meat products.
- You will be responsible for properly merchandising and pricing product in attractive displays according to company standards.
- You will be responsible for enforcing all company policies and procedures relative to meat employees and all areas of the department.
- You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the receipt, weight, and breakdown of meats (including cutting and trimming) and related products.
- You will be responsible for inventory, security, and expense control of the department.
- You will be responsible for making regular inspections to ensure that company standards are being met and enforcing company policies and procedures as they relate to the department's operation.
- You will be responsible for assisting in the training of department personnel and notifying the department manager of any personnel issues.
- You will be responsible for preparing weekly work schedules based on projected sales, volume, and workload, and completing or maintaining all mandatory records or reports in an accurate and timely fashion.
- You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the work area, using proper procedures for cleaning equipment, and cleaning and sanitizing cutting surfaces often and at appropriate times.
- You will be responsible for supporting and modeling safety in the department, communicating expectations with regard to working safely, and continuously observing employees to ensure that safety is an important part of every employee's work.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- You will be responsible for extracting and analyzing data and using data to plan, project, identify problems, etc.
- You will be responsible for ensuring that department associates adhere to company dress code standards (i.e., name tags, personal hygiene, etc.).
- You will be responsible for presenting a favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene, and business attitude.
- You will be responsible for notifying management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs, or property defacement.
- You will be responsible for restocking and using supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and maintain the lowest supply cost.
- You will be responsible for other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Experience in meat operation, including merchandising, ordering, inventorying, and pricing.
- Extensive knowledge of all meat products.
