About the Role

The City of Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Capital Project Manager to join our team in the Capital Building Projects Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and construction of large-scale building projects, including new construction and renovation of existing municipal buildings.

As a Senior Capital Project Manager, you will work closely with our Director of Capital Building Projects and other stakeholders to develop and implement a multi-year Capital Improvement plan for municipal buildings. You will be responsible for managing and administering design and construction contracts, as well as overseeing teams of project managers and architects.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in architectural or construction project management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing large-scale building projects. You should have a strong understanding of local and national building codes and standards, as well as experience with state and municipal procurement laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in the procurement and management of capital building projects, including new construction and renovation of existing municipal buildings.
  • Supervise direct report staff and participate in the hiring of staff and consultants.
  • Manage and review consultant team progress and documentation of building design and construction projects.
  • Perform OPM and/or Owner's Representative Duties at construction project team meetings.
  • Review, process, and track contractor and consultant invoices, proposals, change orders, and contract amendments.
  • Track budgets and provide periodic reports of project progress.
  • Interact and coordinate design and planning of city building construction projects with residents, property owners, business owners, other city departments, state and federal agencies, and other stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, construction management, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in architectural or construction project management with demonstrated experience managing large-scale building projects.
  • Registered Architect preferred.
  • MCPPO and/or OPM Certification preferred.
  • Ability to manage and administer design and construction contracts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service.

  • Strong working knowledge of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction computer software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and other Adobe Suite programs.
