Job Summary

The Arizona Western College is seeking a highly qualified and experienced instructor to teach law enforcement training courses at the Law Enforcement Training Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, ensuring that lectures adhere to all applicable regulating agencies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach law enforcement training courses, including lectures, practical skills training, and live scenarios.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for required topics and subjects.
  • Coordinate regular reviews of the program to ensure effectiveness and alignment with the college's mission and values.
  • Design, develop, and update program curriculum under the supervision of the Director of LETA.
  • Support and participate in strategic initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Certified as a General, Proficiency, or Specialist and in good standing with AZPOST.
  • 3 years of continuous law enforcement training experience.
  • AZPOST certified.
  • Non-Exempt classification.
  • Part-time position with variable schedule, up to 19 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of continuous law enforcement training experience.
Work Environment
  • Law Enforcement Training Academy.
  • May include work in extreme weather conditions, loud unexpected noises, flashing lights, and other conditions appropriate to training law enforcement officers.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work in a classroom environment, as well as all simulated law enforcement environments.
  • Physical demands may include bending, sitting, kneeling, lifting, and/or driving for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to drag 165 pounds, scale fences, and engage in strenuous physical activities as necessary.
Travel
  • No travel required, but job location varies.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
