Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Analyst to join our team at Staff Financial Group.

This role involves developing and applying theoretical principles and practical actuarial techniques to drive business growth and improve financial performance.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of actuarial procedures, including VM-22 and other regulations, and will be able to analyze and report actuarial balances for Annuity products under US GAAP, Statutory, and Tax accounting bases.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Calculating, analyzing, and reporting actuarial balances for Annuity products
  • Leading Long Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI) project, including implementing and executing modeling and assumption updates and performing complex reporting and analysis
  • Quarterly review of valuation results for the fixed and payout annuity block, including guiding junior team members, identifying and resolving issues, reviewing and enhancing complementary analytics, and communicating with management
  • Collaborating with business partners to perform and review valuation results
  • Applying and developing knowledge in specific actuarial procedures
  • Assisting with onboarding of new Annuity blocks as a result of M&A activity
  • Coordinating, preparing, and performing actuarial analysis to assist in the development of financial forecasts used in actuarial recommendations and reporting
  • Working closely with internal audit to identify process risks and develop and perform controls, and interacting with external auditors to communicate process and control execution
  • Assisting in preparation of actuarial response and communication of results of actuarial research to management areas, and may assist in preparing actuarial portion of financial reports and responses to insurance regulators
  • Providing consultation and clarification on actuarial models and risk issues
  • Coordinating and contributing to completion of cash flow testing initiatives
  • Assisting in driving forward modernization efforts for the Annuity block
  • Opportunities to lead cross-functional projects in an Agile work environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or related business discipline
  • FSA or nearing FSA
  • 5+ years finance, insurance industry, or actuarial experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
