Position Overview

This role provides an excellent opportunity to leverage your expertise in electrical transmission engineering, focusing on various components such as conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles to:

  • Design electrical transmission systems ranging from 69kV to 765kV.
  • Conduct structural evaluations and designs for pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
  • Execute foundation design projects.
  • Carry out conductor selection assessments, as well as shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
  • Create cost estimates and timelines while preparing specifications for the acquisition of transmission line materials and construction services.
  • Specify components of transmission lines.
  • Model transmission lines using PLS-CADD, assess right-of-way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop comprehensive transmission line plans and profile drawings.
  • Review submissions from vendors.

Work Arrangement

This position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance three days a week.

Required Qualifications

Please note that we do not provide sponsorship for work authorization in the U.S. for this role.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • A degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Relevant engineering experience, including internships or co-op positions.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in electrical transmission engineering.
  • Understanding of the practical application of engineering principles, particularly in transmission line engineering.
  • Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles necessary for producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Competence in MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following skills and experience are valued:

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
  • Proficiency in software such as PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, and Microstation.
  • Experience in drafting and supporting documentation for engineering calculations.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards including NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
