Job Title: Assistant Athletic Director Sports Medicine

Job Summary:

Ferris State University is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine to join our team. As the athletic department's designated Health Care Administrator, you will be responsible for establishing and managing policies and procedures designed to prevent, treat, repair, and rehabilitate athletic injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the athletic training program, including the recruitment and supervision of athletic trainers and student workers.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to athletic injuries, including prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with coaches, administrators, athletes, and parents to ensure the health and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Manage the athletic training facilities, supplies, and equipment.
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries, consulting with medical personnel and coaches as needed.
  • Provide administrative oversight of medical referrals and clearances.
  • Schedule athletic trainer and student worker coverage for practice sessions and events.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student-athlete medical records.
  • Process athletic insurance claims and coordinate payment of athletic-related medical expenses.
  • Solicit quotes and make recommendations for athletic accident insurance coverage and premium.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of physician and EMS coverage for home football, hockey, and post-season events.
  • Manage partnerships and agreements with Corewell Health, local chiropractors, and dieticians.
  • Provide oversight and annual maintenance of CPR and First Aid certifications for athletic trainers and coaches.
  • Administer the Athletic Department's Drug and Alcohol Education and Testing Program.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three years of full-time experience as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the collegiate level or one year as the primary administrator of a collegiate sports medicine program.
  • State of Michigan athletic training license or eligibility.
  • NATA BOC Certification.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with NCAA and institutional drug testing.
